GETTING READY
For The Filling
1. In a pot, heat oil on medium heat. Add onions and garlic and sauté them till onion is lightly brown. Add in the meat and fry till it is brown.
2. Season with thyme, curry powder and bouillon cube, mix well. Pour 1 cup water, stir, cover and cook for 5 minutes.
3. Add in the carrot, potatoes and 1 cup of water. Season with salt and pepper to taste, cover the pan and let it cook till all the vegetables are tender and soft.
4. Dissolve the flour in 3 tablespoons water and add it to the meat and vegetables. Stir well to mix and turn off the heat. Let it cool completely.
5. Preheat the oven to 335 degrees F.
6. Grease a baking tray with butter or oil. Set aside.
MAKING
For The Dough
7. In a bowl, add flour, baking powder and salt, mix well. Add margarine and continue to mix well till the mixture looks like crumbs.
8. Gradually add water while mixing to get a stiff dough. Knead it for another 10 minutes or till the dough is soft and elastic.
For The Meat pies
9. Lightly flour a flat work surface and roll the dough. Using a medium bowl or circular cutter, cut the dough into medium circles.
10. On one side place around 1 tablespoon of the filling. Brush the edges with egg and fold the other side to cover the filling and it should look like half moon. Using a fork seal the edges by gently pressing it.
11. Repeat steps 9 & 10 with all the remaining dough and filling.
12. Transfer them onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg all over the pies.
13. Poke them with the fork to make small holes and bake them for around 30 minutes or till the pies are golden brown in color.
